Finale to Club Championships. (Mar.2011)
A new name was added to the Honours Board at the Northern Club when Alex Cunningham, playing in only his second final, took the Men's Title. Having disposed of the reigning Champion, Peter Stanton in the semis, Alex took on the challenge of the 2007 Champion, John Sumner, and triumphed in an epic match in which both players hit top form before he claimed success in a close fifth set.
Heather Tweedle took the Ladies' Title for an amazing thirteenth consecutive year and for the fourteenth time in total by overcoming Evi Kohl, while Alex Berry successfully retained the Boys' crown, defeating Matthew Fell.

Northern successes at National Championships. (Feb.2011)
There were successes for the Northern Club at the British National Squash Championships held in Manchester. Andrew Beeston, one of the longest serving members of the club, took the over-70s title in an exciting final, while Heather Tweedle just failed to retain her Ladies' over-45s crown, losing out in a close five-set final.

New racket sport at the Northern. (Nov.2010)
The Northern Club are offering members a new sport - Racketball.
The club have entered a Racketball League and recently took on an unbeaten Village Wirral, and recorded a convincing win. John Sumner played Merseyside's number 1, who boasted a 2 year unbeaten run, and won an enthralling contest by the narrowest of margins, 15-13 in the fifth. Harry Harrop followed suit by overcoming his unbeaten opponent 3-0 while a tired-looking Roger Kenyon went down 3-0. Ian Gazelle was in sparkling form but the final match proved a disappointment as Ray McGee surprisingly lost to a female debutant.
Anyone interested in taking part should enquire via the squash committee.
