Major Tournament Win for Heather. (Mar.2010)
Northern's Heather Tweedle has won the British Nationals Over45 Ladies tournament, which was held at Sportscity in Manchester on February 14th. It is a major tournament, held each year, with entrants from England. Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Congratulations to Heather on another superb title success.
In addition to her national successes, Heather has also been recognised as Sportswoman of the Year for 2009 within the Civil Service, and is pictured being presented with the Centels Salver, by Roy Alder of the Management Board, at the CSSC annual conference. Heather is the current women's CSSC Champion and Women's Veterans Champion and has held these honours for the past five years.

Club Championships decided. (Mar.2010)
Peter Stanton claimed his fifth Championship title by overcoming the challenge of Mick Henderson in a highly entertaining final at the Northern Club. The challenger took an early lead and seemed to be in command until the defending champion took control to finish strongly in the 3-1 win. In the Plate Final, Mark Griffiths took the prize with a 3-2 victory over Phil Todd.
Mick Henderson, runner-up in the Championship, went one step better in the Veterans' Final. He secured an impressive 3-1 success over former winner Ray McGee.

Northern hosts another Junior Tournament. (Feb.2010)
A 2010 graded tournament was held at the Northern over a weekend in February, with over 35 juniors from the North West taking part.
On the Saturday, the E2 grade was won by the Northern's Olly Kidd (left) beating Joe McCombe (below left) in a hard hitting final. Losing semi-finalist Ricky Langland (below right) of Central Fitness in St.Helens won the outstanding player award. Dominic James (centre) of Xavians also performed well on the day, claiming a 3rd place award.
In the D2 grade Will Kynaston (below left) contested a good quality all Northern final against Tom Alman (centre) who pushed him all the way, Will eventually winning 22-20. Matthew Fell (below right) was third placed.
Last year's runner-up in the D1 category Alex Berry (left) returned to beat Central’s Connor Sheen (right) in a much closer than expected final.
On the Sunday, the Northern cleaned up in the F2 grade with Sophie Griffiths and Ryan Balmer (below centre) claiming 3rd place awards. Special mention in this category to Callum Snaylam, who at only 6 years old was narrowly beaten in the quarter-final by Callum Judge (below left).
Callum then progressed to the final where he was beaten by his brother Declan Judge (above left) last year's runner-up. For many of the youngsters in this category it was their first event and all performed well, Louisa Burns (below right) winning the outstanding player award.
The F1 grade was once again the most competitive section with a number of potential winners, but in the end it was the excellent Scott Snaylam (left) of Northern beating LCC’s Dominic Tosh (below left) in the final. Dominic had earlier beaten Adam Tweedle (second left) in a close semi-final.
The other losing semi-finalist was Matthew Powell (second right) of LCC. Matthew performed particularly well on the day and received an outstanding player award. Northern's Matthew Brady (right) also received an outstanding player award.
