Alan Hendry's 6 years' hold on the Veterans' Title
was relinquished when young Ray McGee (left) became champion for the first time.
In the Ladies' Event, Heather Tweedle's name (below left) was added to the Honours Board for a record eight times as
she overcame Sue Rutherford, herself a five times champion.
The Plate Final was deservedly
won by the popular Ian Price though young challenger Adam Waredale made him work hard for his success,
and the Veterans' Plate became the property of Kevin Morrison, who overcame the dogged resistance of Bill Rice.
The Handicap Final was won by Dave Wilson (left) who overcame Gary Powell.

Heather stars in National Championships. (Feb.2006)
The National Squash Championships took place 5th to 12th February 2006 at the National Squash Centre, SportsCity, Manchester.
Congratulations to Heather Tweedle who narrowly finished runner up in the Ladies Competition.
She entered the competition unseeded and had a turbulent and difficult route to the final.
On the way she had to dispose of the No 5 seed, Sarah Giles from Hampshire,
followed by the No 3 seed Claire Baker from Surrey.
The semi final was obviously the easiest as she disposed of the No. 1 seed
Mandy Akin from Kent in straight games!
A magnificent achievement for Heather and tremendous recognition for the Club.
This should secure automatic selection to the England Team for the forthcoming international team tournament.

Blues turn tables in snooker clash. (Oct.2005)
Northern players put aside their squash racquets to enjoy some light relief in a Special Snooker Challenge Match in the Clubhouse. Organiser Harry Vidal lead his Red team against George Parry's Blues in a highly entertaining evening. George won the battle of the captains only for D.D. Burr, with the highest break of the evening, to strike back against club President Mike Bishop. Ian "Hurricane" Price put the "Reds" ahead only for Bob Sumner and Steve Lewis to level matters.. The Blue team went ahead again courtesy of Chips Johnson and Ray Kewell's success but the match swung towards the Red team as the Hendrys, dad Alan and son Dom, and Tom Fitzgerald won their matches. Up stepped Dave Mulholland to ensure the outcome rested on the last match and veterans Mike Cunningham and Dave Gil paired up to snatch victory on the black over Ossie Burr and Johnnie Forrest.

Alan is Sefton's Nominee. (Oct.2005)
Following his success at the Sefton Sports Awards, where he was voted Coach of the Year,
Alan Hendry was nominated by Sefton to represent them
in the corresponding award at the
Merseyside Sports Awards, Future Sporting Champions 2005.
The awards celebrate the success and achievements of Merseyside Sporting
Personalities, and took place at the Crowne Plaza,
where Alan missed out on the Merseyside award by a whisker.
So close was the decision that
Alan's nomination will also go forward to contest the National Final for the Coach of the Year,

Our youngsters shine in Merseyside Competition. (Oct.2005)
At the recent Merseyside Closed Competition 2005,
Northern Junior Squash members showed once again that they are amongst the best in the County.
In his first outing in the top age group, Under 19,
Alex Cunningham was a creditable runner up to a strong opponent who was playing for the final time at Junior level.
Cousin Jason Cunningham, not yet 17 took the fourth spot in the under 19 competition
displaying a maturity in his game which will serve him well in years to come.
Matthew Davies in his first outing in a higher age group,
took an unexpected knock through complacency in the first round of the Under 17 competition.
Despite this setback he swept aside all others and took the Plate competition with ease.
A familiar Beast (left) was on hand to present Matthew with his trophy.
Kim Davies worked hard to secure her place in the final of the under 13 girls for the second season in succession.
She knew her opponent was strong, yet put in a performance to make the game worthy of a final at this standard.
Kim’s success in Merseyside earned her an invitation into the North West Regional Finals at Manchester.
The surrounding six counties in this region were represented in the competition and at the age of 11 she achieved fourth place overall.
