Marquee packed for Molby and Reid. (Jun.2007)
|
A record-breaking 400 diners filled our sell-out Sports Dinner,
featuring ex-Everton's Peter Reid and former red Jan Molby.
The pair are pictured above with Northern president Phil Sloan,
and Rachael Martin who organised the highly successful raffle during the evening.

The Sloan dynasty was out in force,
running the show both up front and behind the scenes.

May's news in brief. (May.2007)
|
|
Lottery sales have recommenced, with around 50 tickets per week being sold by the cricket section. Bowls are also supporting the venture, so please pick up your weekly entry ticket from the bar.
The Ladies Bowls Section are holding their charity day on 22nd May, and would welcome any donations of prizes for their tombola.
Volunteer Stewards are needed for the Woodlands Hospice 10 mile walk on 19th May.
The Squash Section also report successful fund raising during their recent Grand National events.
Squash court maintenance is needed (at a cost of around £4,000) and is booked provisionally for July.
Our club finances are showing an improvement on last year, with subscriptions and bar income improved on the corresponding period to March. Overall, income is up 2% and expenditure down 6%.
Our Treasurer confirms that questions raised at the AGM are being followed up. We have written to the fund managers concerning the rate of return on the sinking fund for the astro replacement. The Treasurer is investigating the level of our bank charges, and the initial view is that they may be reasonable against our substantial cash dealings.
A full business plan is being put together, in relation to the proposed merger with Moor Park tennis club.
With the Bar now redecorated, we are also looking to renew the surfaces in the ladies changing rooms.
The flower bed area, in front and right of the club house, is to be tended by a member
in exchange for some modest advertising on behalf of Tony Monaghan Landscaping.
We are considering greater use of the coded lock on the lounge entrance door, in early evening, in order to improve security for all.
And we will have a formal no smoking policy in force by 1st July.
