Changing Room renovation progressing. (Dec 2004).
Work is well underway on the project to renovate the men's changing rooms in the main club house. The changing rooms were extended around 20 years ago, and have remained unaltered since. The project is being run by the hockey section in conjunction with England Hockey and Sport England.

Yet another accolade for Wendy. (Oct 2004).
Our workoholic First Lady received further recognition at the Merseyside Sports Awards evening, held at the Moat House on Friday 29.October. Following on from her Sefton Volunteer award in June, Wendy went forward as Sefton's nominee to the Merseyside event, and was also voted Merseyside's sporting Volunteer of the Year for 2004.

The night the Beatles played the club. (Oct 2004).
Dusty archive footage of that memorable night when the Beatles played the Northern Cavern?
Or maybe the recent gig when tribute band the Beat Beatles raised the roof with a great evening's entertainment.

Big night for 200 Club. (Sep.2004)
After 9 years at the helm, Steve Redfern organised his final 200 Club draw night. Steve is pictured receiving a 'thank you' from president Wendy McDowall, in the form of an addition to his garden jungle.
As ever the evening was an enjoyable one, incorporating live entertainment from Craig 'I don't just do Buddy Holly' Snaylam, and a fine buffet from Glen and his Northern Catering crew.
Top prize was won by former member of staff Sue Kingsford. Roy Blagden popped the champagne corks after he picked up runner-up spot and this £1000 cheque.
Joining the list of great double acts ... Morecambe and Wise, Statham and Trueman, fish and chips, Williams and, er, Winsor ...
Thanks to Dave Winsor and Phil Williams, who have volunteered to take over the running of the 200 Club from Steve. Anyone wishing to join, please get in touch.

Ladies take the field for President's Day. (Jul.2004)
The President led from the front as Wendy's XI took on deputy Bish's motley crew in a closely fought contest.
Adam Batty is bamboozled (above) by unfamiliar advances from Debbie Murphy. There were other virtuoso performances from the ladies, including batters Kath Thow (left) and squashbuckling Sally Davies.
Thanks to Wendy and Dave for a great day on and off the pitch.

Marquee Week, Summer Ball. (Jun.2004)
As usual, Wendy McDowall worked her little cotton socks off (but didn't wear them with that posh shiny red ball gown) to ensure that the Summer Ball went with a swing. Around 230 people danced the night away to DJ Gary and some great live music from the Wickermen.

Marquee Week, Sports Celebrity Dinner. (Jun.2004)
England's Euro 2004 defeat in Portugal provided the only sour taste as around 170 members and guests enjoyed an otherwise successful Sports Dinner in the marquee. Attention then turned from the big screen to guest speakers Joey Jones and Steve Kindon (pictured with club member Neilan Symondson), who provided the main entertainment of the evening with tales of their footballing careers.
