Sun shines on Bill and Audrey. (Aug.2010)

President's Day was blessed by a fine summer's afternoon.
The traditional cricket match began with the rare sight of our president Bill Sarath bowling an over-arm wood,
and continued to the accompaniment of copious refreshments,
with the President's XI overcoming the cricket section's team in a last-over victory.
Bill and Audrey then entertained family, guests and players to an excellent late lunch.
Thanks to Bill and Audrey for a most enjoyable day.

Bill Sarath took over as our new Club President at the AGM.

Andy Davies performed his final duty as outgoing President by presenting long service awards.
Geoff Davies (left) has clocked up 50 years with Northern, and was awarded Life Membership of the club.
Roger Calvert (below left) and Peter Perdue (below) each received their gold lapel badges after 40 years with the club.

The club's past presidents and their partners enjoyed their annual get-together,
meeting for the past presidents' lunch.
The event was an opportunity also to acknowledge former president's lady Di Ashworth,
who is standing down after 35 years helping behind the scenes with the club's financial accounts.

....28. Squash member Dave Pardoe scooped the top £5000 prize in the annual 200 Club grand draw.
Dave was not on hand, but main prize winner there on the night was Colin Blanchard who pocketed £1000.

New Vice President for 2010. (Jan.2010)

We are pleased to announce that Alan Murphy
has accepted the nomination for Vice President at the forthcoming AGM of 2010.
|
|
|
Alan is currently our Maintenance Chairman, and also runs the 200 Club.
He has contributed through Council, House Committee and behind the scenes for many years.
A regular and jovial attendee at the bar, and supporter of club functions,
Alan is a keen football follower
with a dubious allegiance to a nearby American-owned hispanically-outsourced soccer franchise.
Our congratulations and best wishes to Alan for an enjoyable and successful year.
