Northern stages the World Cup. (Jul. 2006)

Our junior coaching sessions for this year ended with a ‘world cup’ round-robin tournament, spread over the last three sessions, culminating in a grand final between the two highest placed teams.

All the children, who have been attending the highly popular coaching sessions since the beginning of May, were divided into teams representing the cricket playing nations, and provided with team colours for the occasion.

South Africa and India were the two sides to emerge from the qualifying stages,
pictured above with match umpire Les Knowles,
and it was India who triumphed in a keenly fought final.

Thanks to Carl Hey who coordinated the sessions and competition, to the many volunteers who helped with the coaching, and to the hundred and fifty plus children who enjoyed the sessions. See you again next year.
