for his match-winning innings amid the Embee semi-final batting collapse.
Ben Sloan (left) was Young Player of the Year, and was awarded the David Payne trophy.
|
|
|
|
The John Winter trophy for the scorer of most league runs in the season went to club skipper James Cole.
With James already in Oz on the winter job, father Dave (above left) was on hand to collect.

There were final team speeches from out-going captains Chris Taylor, Phil Cooper, Craig Jones,
Lawrie Peet and Billy the Parrot.
Good luck next year to their successors Bryn Abraham, Rob Jansen, Ralph Rands and Chris Willan.
The merriment and frivolity continued,
so much so that at one point there was a sighting reported of Blanny making a visit to the bar.

Lancashire Girls U13s, with Northern's very own Ellie Ralston,
have been crowned National Champions for 2011, after beating Sussex in the final.
The previous day the girls won their semi-final clash against Somerset, bowling them out for 27 runs.

In the final, played at Denby CC, Sussex won the toss and put Lancashire in to bat,
and they responded by hitting 176 for 7 off 30 overs.

Ellie enjoyed an outstanding season at a personal level.
As well as captaining Lancashire to their first ever national championship success at this level,
she took 8 wickets in total (with a best of 3 for 5) and scored 163 runs (including a top score of 65 not out).

Under 9s win LCB Tournament (June.2011)
|
|
|
|
|
|
Moor Park was awash with the region's Under 9 cricketers and their families, with multiple softball matches taking place simultaneously on each of the three pitches, when Northern hosted the annual Lancashire Cricket Board Under 9 tournament.
It was a great day for the home team, as Northern won the tournament under captain Oliver Meadows, along with Lloyd Brookman, Callum Snaylam, William Dalton, Mathew Kelly, Daniel Lenehan, George Hopwood, Callum Prendergast, Alfie McCaughrean and Callum McLeod.
The Northern team beat Ormskirk in the final, in a very entertaining game of cricket. Northern scored 241 batting first and Ormskirk replied with 221.
Along the way, Newton-le-Willows were beaten in the quarter-finals with a convincing performance, keeping them to 213 while Northern scored 244.
In the semi-finals, Northern met Formby in a very close game. Formby scored 215, with Daniel Leehan taking 4 wickets in his over to keep the score down. Northern looked comfortable, but then lost a couple of wickets. Beginning the final over at 221, another wicket lost early in the over reduced Northern to 216 with 3 balls left. Oliver Meadows made a single and George Hopwood blocked out the final 2 balls to secure victory.
Northern's Callum Snaylam was Player of the Final, and won two Twenty20 tickets for a fine batting display including a six and 2 fours and an excellent over restricting the opposition to just 2 runs.

Bod's 4 Last Year's Fashion Items. (Feb.2011)
|
|
Bags 4 Sport is a great method of raising cash for the Northern Club,
protecting the environment by recycling,
and also providing affordable clothing for those in less privileged countries.
The types of clothing that can be donated are:
Good quality unwanted clothes
Paired shoes, belts, caps, bags, etc
Soft toys (no bric a brac)
The cricket section will be participating in this scheme.
I would be grateful if you could store your unwanted clothing to a date to be confirmed later
when I will arrange a collection of the clothing at the club.
There are bags which I can give members at winter nets, however normal bags can also be used.
I would like to use the monies raised to assist in key capital purchases
including a sight screen for the back pitch and a mobile net.
Paul Wills
Bring bags to the club by evening of 1.June.2011.
They are being stored in the committee room.
