Northern progress to National Quarter Finals. (Jul.2010)
National Knock-out at Northern - job done - shake hands
Northern have overcome West Indian Cavaliers from Nottingham, by 77 runs, to reach the last eight of the National Knock-out.
The celebrations began (below) as Cavaliers last man out Atkinson miscued Chris Tipper's left arm spin into the deep, where the catch was held and the catcher Steve Cole was mobbed.

Defending a total of 194 from our 45 overs, the Northern bowling attack put the Cavaliers under pressure from the start. Richard Stanyon broke through in the first over trapping Morteza Ali LBW, with opening partner Mike Jones forcing a return catch (above) from Aqib Afzaal, to leave the visitors 2 down for 1 run.
National Knock-out at Northern - Tinashe Panyangara out Excellent support from Steve Cole (3 for 35) kept the pressure on, and as the later batsmen hit out, Chris Tipper collected 4 for 28, including the eighth wicket (left) of Tinashe Panyangara.
National Knock-out at Northern - Paul Park & Chris Tipper Northern's earlier innings was built around an unbeaten 60 from Paul Park (left), after Chris Tipper had opened up with a fine knock of 56 before being given controversially run out.
Northern now face a trip to the north east on Sunday 8th August to take on South Northumberland at Gosforth NE31LU in the quarter finals.
