Embee Cup comes home again. (Aug.2009)

Our 3rd Team are pictured with the Embee Cup, which they have won for the third time in four years,
after defeating Formby by 24 runs in the final.
Phil Jones was man of the match, hitting 40 with the bat and taking 3-31 in Formby's reply.

Northern continued our 150 Year Celebrations by entertaining the M.C.C, in a special all-day friendly fixture,
that included a buffet lunch and a fair amount of our renowned Northern socialising.

Marylebone Cricket Club posted 238 for 5 after fifty overs and won by 43 runs.
Mark Fletcher 85, Roland Horridge 51, and Steve Stoneman, unbeaten on 39, played the worthiest innings
and Phil Cooper picked up 4 for 38.
Travis Townsend opened the response with an excellent 112 with brief support from John Wildman 17.
Last man out Paul Park, with a late flourish of 27, steered Northern to a respectable 195 all out after 42.1 overs.

MCC v Northern. (Aug.2009)

As part of our 150th anniversary celebrations we have an all day fixture against the MCC,
on Sunday 16th August, starting at 11:30am.
All are welcome, indeed encouraged, to attend.
There will be a sumptuous buffet lunch at 1:30pm,
and there will obviously be the opportunity to have a jar or three
with fellow cricketers and friends in a convivial atmosphere,
with hopefully some good cricket and weather for our entertainment.

Masters Who's Who with Formby. (Jul.2009)

The coloured kit came in handy to work out who was playing for who in our latest Masters fixture against Formby.
Old boys Morris, Hadden and Grice took on a Northern team including our wicketkeeping capture Dave Cole,
and more-clubs-than-jack-nicholas Colin Mitchell.

On Tuesday, August 11th, our Ladies Bowls Section are hosting the annual Bowling Bash with the Cricketers,
all Cricketers and their families are invited.
After bowling, the men are doing a BBQ, so hope for good weather.
