Kit crisis in Sierra Leone. (Sep. 2007)
Lads
As I have been in a self imposed African exile for the past 18 months, I have fallen somewhat behind in the kit stakes. All previous attempts at obtaining suitable new kit for the forthcoming tour of Barbados have failed.
Therefore, if anyone has any spare short sleeved Northern cricket shirts or Northern rain jackets that are in reasonable condition I may be interested in trying to strike a deal. I am looking for small or medium in both, and I am more than happy to negotiate a price. You can contact me on kev.burgess@gmail .com
Cheers

Under 11s sweep the board. (Sep. 2007)
Northern's Under 11s have become league champions for the first time, and have remained unbeaten during the season, winning a total of 15 games. The team won both the U11 Merseyside Youth Association league and play off final. beating Wavertree in a close-fought final by 9 runs. All the players bowled and batted with great ability during the season, and showed an excellent team spirit, when fielding was also a highlight. The team is pictured with team manager Paul Wills.

Performance of a Lifetime wins award for Craig. (Sep. 2007)
In a season of outstanding performances, there was one clear winner of the Simon Bell Memorial Trophy at the annual dinner in Craig Jones. Craig's Performance of the Season was in taking all ten wickets (10-60), in the 4th XI fixture at Liverpool on Saturday 7th July.
Craig's Performance surpassed the club's previous best (10-70) taken by Paul Wills at Birkenhead Park in 1989.

Carl makes Hey ahead of Winter. (Sep. 2007)
Congratulations to Northern's Carl Hey, who overtook the Liverpool Competition's all-time record for runs scored in a top-flight league season. With one match still to go, Carl hit 81 in Northern's win at St.Helens Recs, taking him past the previous record of 1423 runs, set by our own Northern legend Dr John Winter (pictured above with Carl) back in 1955. Starting the day needing 66 to re-write the history books, Carl reached his landmark in style, hitting a six to move from 61 to 67 and smash John Winter's previous long-standing record.

Under 20s win inaugural Twenty20. (Aug. 2007)
Northern's U20s were victorious in the Liverpool Comp's inaugural Twenty20 finals day, defeating Highfield by 15 runs in an exciting final, having overcome Wallasey by 40 runs in the semis.
Our U16s reached the semi-finals of their competition, where they were defeated by eventual winners Fleetwood Hesketh. Northern hosted the event, with both tournaments' semi-finals and final on the day.

Northern goes International with Dutch fixture. (Aug. 2007)
Northern welcomed visiting touring team Rood en Wit from Haarlem in the Netherlands, in a Twenty20 fixture following the Lancs-Northants county match. More accustomed to playing on coconut matting than a county strip, the visitors backed caution on winning the toss, as their hosts amassed 106 upon being invited to bat. The ploy backfired when darkness descended on the visitors' innings, and they compiled just 62 in reply against the backdrop of a Moor Park sunset.
Beers of all nationalities were the order, in a lively aftermath in the bar. Jugs circulated freely in all directions, with no suggestion of the teams 'going dutch'. The opposing skippers Sebastian Capel and John Watts are pictured exchanging club mementos.

The tourists were the fourth team from Rood en Wit, with Northern fielding a team at roughly the same level. There are only 55 clubs in Holland, but the leading clubs are large, with three fields and multiple elevens. The structure within which Rood en Wit plays is about as strong as our Liverpool Comp set-up, with test-playing professionals etc. In total, Rood en Wit field five Sunday teams (the main day for league cricket in Holland).
