Brownie wins inaugural award. (Oct. 2005)
|
|
Karl Brown has been selected as the inaugural winner of the LDCC Young Player Of The Year award.
Due to a slight cock-up on the LDCC supplier front,
the trophy came too late for a mention at the Comp Dinner.
It will be presented to Karl before Christmas, on his return from his winter tour,
with a formal presentation to follow at our pre-season dinner late March or early April.

A very special Championship Dinner followed this year's cricket annual general meeting,
with a packed room of over 100 diners celebrating the 1st team's first Liverpool Competition triumph,
plus league titles for two other teams.
|
|
An illustrious array of past captains attended,
from as far away as Devon and Formby.
From left and back, Tony Lynch, Mike Lees, Dave Hadden, Graeme Morris
and Jack Woosey (obscured in white shirt, but that’s his dad in the distance).
In the foreground, Colin Lever, Brian Lewis and (right) John Winter.

A presentation (above left) spanning eight decades of cricket at Northern,
as Young Player of the Year James Morrissey receives the David Payne Cup
from batting legend Dr John Winter.
Phil Jones (right) acquitted himself well in his 1st team debut season,
and included a hat-trick amongst his 2nd team successes.
He receives the Jim Crew trophy as the season’s most improved cricketer.
|
Captain of the ECB Premier League Champions (above centre, just thought we'd mention that),
Phil Cooper communes with the spirit that has carried his team to such dizzy heights.
Or has he just spent too many of his formative years with Colin of the Bug?
Having filled James Marshall’s role in the batting order with aplomb,
Jack Kelliher (left) shows off his new look.
Perhaps role modelling can be taken a bit too far, Phil.
Gus Fraser (right) has embraced his role as Team Man,
batting and bowling intermittently down the order, usually only
when the champs have been ‘right in it’. Phil Cooper (CRB cleared) reciprocates
in presenting his own Every Side Needs One award.

Our league and cup double-winning under 13s (above), with skipper James Morrissey
and side-kick Phil Lees showing off the MYC League Shield and MYC Eric Tatlock Trophy.
The rest of the lads take a well-earned bow, as they collect their individual presentations.
Looks like it's past Little Leesy's bedtime, as (right) president Mike Bishop offers his praises.

Mark Garcia reflects on the achievements of the Sunday XI, most notably that of enduring the ever-present Jimmy Petafi in every match.
Maria Brant reports on a successful season for the ladies.
Fitness and lifestyle guru John Dooley describes how he galvanised his 5th team towards a fourth place finish.

|
Stuart Derbyshire received his share of the plaudits in his first year of captaincy,
leading the 2nd team to second place in their premier division.
Good to see some Care in the Community,
as Stu supplies umpire Roddy with this week’s essential groceries.
|
|
Eddie Sturmey’s 3rd team finished third in their premier division, and reached the Embee Cup final.
John Leary receives the Simon Bell Cup for his match-winning Performance of the Year in the semi-final, an unbeaten 103 against Southport.
|
|
|
|
|
Jimmy Robbins (left), also captain of the CHAMPIONS,
in his first season in charge,
led his 4th.XI to the title and promotion to the thirds premier division.
Dave Willo and Andy Sturmey received 4th team awards.

The Chairman Anthony Coyne introduces the Ant and Dec of Northern,
the fan-tastic Paul and Mick, as
Dave Harrison (above right) picks up their award for Clubman of the Year.
|
Seems there is general approval for Carl Hey’s nomination,
as (above left) he receives his Oscar from the Chairman
for his catalogue of theatrical performances over the season.
And despite Northern’s own successes, England’s Ashes triumph does not escape mention,
and with it (above right) the ritual humiliation of Jez, our token Aussie.
|

So who says you can’t have your cake and eat it?
The fine array of trophies in the most successful season in the club's history ...
and it wouldn't be a proper party without a cake, would it?

Karl Brown awarded Lancs contract. (Sep. 2005)
|
Yet more congratulations to Karl Brown.
Following his successes this year with Northern, Lancashire 2nd XI and England under 19s,
and his inclusion in the England U19 tour party to Bangladesh in November,
Karl has been awarded a full-time contract with Lancashire for the season 2006.
Karl was Northern’s leading run-scorer in 2005,
with 809 league runs, a phenomenal performance for a player who just reached age 17 during the season.

Northern clinch Title. (Sep. 2005)
Our 1st.XI have been crowned CHAMPIONS of the Liverpool ECB Premier League.

League Successes for all Northern teams. (Sep. 2005)
As you may have noted elsewhere, the 1st.XI won the Premier league.
There are celebrations too in Northern’s lower teams, where Jimmy Robbins’ 4th team have also finished as champions.
Dooley's 5th team were denied the runner-up spot in the same division only in their final fixture.
Stuart Derbyshire’s 2nd team have recovered from a lousy early-season to claim an excellent second place.
Eddie Sturmey and the 3rds are still going to the final game, and are up there in the top few places, with all still to be decided.
And the Under 13s have added a league title to their Tatlock Cup win.
So it's fair to say. We've done alright.
