Northern end on a high note. (13.Sep. 2003)
Northern finished the season in style, with all four sides winning on the final day. The 1st.XI beat Northop Hall by 2 wickets, with 3 victims each for Jon Taylor and Mike Holden. Taylor is pictured capturing the key wicket of Pakistan test player Arshad Khan, deceived by a clever change of pace by the Northern quickie. Northern's reply was built around a stylish 54 from Carl Hey, with Phil Unsworth guiding the side home in a tense last-ball finish.

Northern v Camels. (17.Aug. 2003)
Northern skipper John Dooley proudly displays the Simon Bell Trophy and a cheesy grin, after an exciting one wicket victory over Camels. Also pictured are Camels president Steve Ward, and Chris Bell.
Time to play 'Spot the non-Northern player' in the star-unstudded Camels line-up.
Let's make that '1) not a member, 2) never have been 1), and 3) not sired by a 1) or 2)' ...

Pictured before the home game with Maghull. Back row: Alan Majestic (scorer), Aid Fraser, Jamie Tomlinson, Mike Holden, John Wildman, Phil Cooper, Shaun O'Brien. Front row: James Cole, Sherwin Campbell, Phil Unsworth, Carl Hey, David Brown.

Three Bridges. (15.Aug. 2003)
Our old friends from Three Bridges returned for yet another year on tour to Northern and surrounding districts. Bryn Abrahams (above) illustrates the classical on-drive to the bowling green, and hoists the veteran McNeil back over his head. Karl Garcia (left) uses the pace on this McNeil delivery to guide Northern to victory.
Off the field, a few Three Bridges institutions. The fines, the broom race, the Perkins, the silly bar games. The tour match has been a regular fixture since 1978, so is now the 26th fixture between the sides.

Sherwin in action. (2.Aug. 2003)
Sherwin Campbell in action against Newton le Willows. Shots (above) all around the ground, before (left) missing a straight one as the ball rebounds off the stumps.

Big knock from pint-sized Steve. (12.Jul 2003)
Young Steve Cole came of age with a superb match-winning performance, steering Northern 4ths to victory with an undefeated 83 chasing Maghull's formidable 228 target.
Congratulations also to Greg Phillips, who hit his maiden century for the 2nds against Huyton. Greg was unbeaten on 121, having put on 221 for the first wicket with Chris Taylor. Sadly though for Greg and Chris, it was Woosey who grabbed the photo opportunity again ...
