Under Fifteens take MYC Trophy. (Jul. 2006)
A big ‘well done’ to our lads, who triumphed in the Merseyside Youth Cricket Under 15 tournament. The competition is in Twenty 20 format, and has been running during the first half of the season. Having made it through the league stages, and won tricky quarter and semi final ties, Northern claimed the trophy by defeating Mossley Hill in the final. The team are pictured above, with coach James Cole, and a very proud Mrs Lees.
Paddy Reade (above right) anchored the Northern innings, top scoring with a fine 48, and getting off to a good start in partnership with Sachin Sharma (above left).
Paddy then accelerated at the crucial point in the innings, with Myles Martin who hit a whirlwind 30.
A let-off (above) as Paddy Reade miscues a big hit. The ball goes vertical as the bowler and keeper meet mid-pitch to discuss who should spill the chance.
Myles Martin (left) responds by hammering a massive six to the boundary.
Northern finished on 118 for 5. In reply, Mossley Hill reached 107 for 3, with J Evans unbeaten on 52. Carlos Gosling (left) was the pick of the Northern bowlers, conceeding just 9 runs in his 4 overs.
