Ladies enjoy their Final Day. (Sep. 2008)
|
|
Ladies singles day final was held on Sunday 7th.September,
and was blessed with Weather that was dry with some sun, while the bowling was excellent.
Winner of the Singles Trophy was Brenda O’Hanlon,
while the Losers Plate was played at the same time, with Margaret Blagden the winner.
This brings to an end a good season, with, as well as the competitions, some fun days enjoyed by all.
In addition to the match and BBQ with the Cricketers and their families,
we have held Social Mixed Bowling on Saturday afternoons during the season,
which have been well attended and run by John Bell.
This has given the opportunity for the two bowls sections to mix, has been very successful and enjoyed by all.

Cricketers becoming a Fixture. (Aug. 2008)
|
|
On Tuesday, 12th August, the Ladies Bowlers invited the Cricketers with Partners and Children to join us and try some underarm bowling.
Around 20 visitors came and a good time was had by all.
There was some promising bowling from the Cricketers,
so we hope they will consider joining the Bowls Section at some stage.
Mike Bishop and Paul Davies did a BBQ, which went down very well with everyone. A big thank you to them.
By popular request, this will be repeated next year.
We have held this event for about 3 years now, so it seems to be a fixture. GREAT.

The ladies President's Trophy day was a very successful day, with fine weather, and 2 knock-out competitions running side by side on the 2 greens.
Starting at 12 noon, we finished at approx 5 pm, the President presenting the trophies.
Trophy winner was Doreen McKernan, with Monica Handley as runner-up.
Doreen was also presented with a lovely glass plate on a stand as a gift from the President.
The Plate (which was played by all the first time losers from the Trophy) was won by Mary Porter, with Moira Jones as runner-up.

wef: 10th.MAY. 2008.
OLDER MEMBERS.( Individual or groups). BY APPOINTMENT.
Contact MAURICE HEMMING. 924 9025.
ALL EQUIPMENT IS
PROVIDED. FLAT SOLED FOOTWEAR IS ESSENTIAL.
The object
of this initiative is to give you the opportunity to try a different sport, and
for those who have perhaps reached the end of playing a more physically
demanding sport, or indeed, have never played one, to continue your interest in
the club, and get more for your money.
Other benefits are fresh air, exercise, and fellowship.
With the
juniors we are eventually aiming to put together a team to play competitively
within the club, and against other clubs within the area.
With the
correct instruction you can easily attain a level of skill that will enable you
to join in with the other bowls section players, both on the green, and
socially.
There is
very little available these days without a cost, so take this opportunity while
it is on offer.
