Cricketers try some Under-arm Bowling. (Aug. 2007)
|
Ladies captain Barbara Snaylam sends her report of a successful evening on and off the green,
when her bowlers entertained members of the cricket section
in a friendly bowling encounter between the two sections.
|
|
|
|
Following on from a successful evening last year, an informal, friendly Bowls Match was arranged against members of the Cricket Section (including some wives and children) on Tuesday 7th August. We had a
very good fun evening in which over 40 adults and children took part and
managed to play at least one game - some managed more and the score was
immaterial!
We followed this up with an impromptu multi-pizza supper and
drinks later in the Clubhouse. Both sections expressed the hope that this
will continue to be a permanent event as everyone enjoyed themselves.

|
|
This was followed by a doubles competition after lunch,
which was won by Brendan Roberts and Bill Barrington (above, with Bill Sarath).
Everyone then enjoyed a three course meal before the "Bowl to the bottle competition",
where a bottle of whiskey is placed on the green and everybody bowls to it.
Albert Lewis was the nearest and claimed his prize.

Thanks to our Captain, we all enjoyed a splendid day out with glorious weather.
