News Update.
(March 2004).
The 2004 bowling season will get under way on the 20th March 2004 with the opening of the summer greens. The open day we have organised is on April 17th from 11am to 3pm. We hope to attract new members by inviting interested persons down to the club and showing them the facilities available for our members. This is a joint effort and we hope we attract some new members.
The winter green has been very important in keeping our bowlers on form and encouraging new members to the club through the Sunday Open Competition. This year the men’s bowls section is fielding 8 league bowling teams which includes 1 veteran and 1 OAP team, playing on Monday Wednesday Thursday & Friday. The ladies also have a busy league and social fixture list.
The Northern Classic Open Competition entries were completed at the beginning of Feb and there is a waiting list. Competitors will be travelling from as far as Birmingham and Carlisle to play in this prestigious championship. This competition is one of the best in the country and a delight for competitors and spectators throughout May and June.
Any cricket squash or hockey members who are not playing competitive sport for their section, but would like to play competitively are welcome to join our section. The bowling section of the club is one of the best sections to be in. You can play competitively into your nineties with a well-bonded section. We have great times together and enjoy a wonderful social side with-in the section.
